Should I get a mattress protector or a mattress protector? What's the difference?

Mattress protectors generally come in two types, usually waterproof mattress covers that protect the top layer (mattress protectors) or wrap around the entire mattress (mattress protectors) to provide full protection. Both types can be used, but each type is very different in feel and function.
